Crest

A crest is the narrow top of a mountain or ridgeline. There are hundreds of well-known crests in the world, commonly sought-after by hikers and mountaineers.

The longest series of crests in Australia of course is the Great Dividing Range, a cordillera that stretches from Dauan Island in the Torres Strait down to the Wimmera plains of the Grampians region in western Victoria. The peak crest of this range is Mount Kosciuszko.

In Victoria, a very good crest to hike is the Cathedral Range State Park, which has both a Northern Circuit and Southern Circuit.
